Bob Broward has just been named to the Florida Artists Hall of Fame.

Bob joins an amazing list of luminaries in the Florida Artists Hall of Fame which includes Ernest Hemingway, Zora Neale Hurston,

Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, Ray Charles, Stetson Kennedy, and James Weldon Johnson.

Florida Secretary of State Kurt Browning will be coming to Jacksonville on Monday, February 6, to present the award to Bob.

The ceremony at MOCA will begin at 5:00 pm followed by a reception at 5:30. Please join us to celebrate the life and career

of one of Florida’s greatest living architects and apprentice to Frank Lloyd Wright. Included in the program will be a short

documentary film, “Robert C. Broward FAIA” by John Reitzammer.

The program is free and seating is limited.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations were amended on September 15, 2010. The U.S. Department of Justice (USDOJ) adopted the 2004 Access Board Guidelines as Standards for Accessible Design (Design Standards) and amended its regulations accordingly. The State of Florida updated its accessibility code in 2011 to provide more consistency with the updated ADA Design Standards. This seminar looks at the provisions of the 2012 Florida Accessibility Code for Building Construction (FACBC) related to application and administration of the code, as well as, at how the FACBC relates to the 2010 ADA Design Standards in these areas. This seminar is designed to be compatible with seminar 12F116 – 2012 Florida Accessibility Code (Technical Provisions). The core document for seminar 12F112 will be the 2012 Florida Accessibility Code for Building Construction.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: The new 2012 Florida Accessibility Code for Building Construction (FACBC) was created to provide more consistency with the 2010 USDOJ and USDOT Americans with Disabilities Act Standards for Accessible Design. One may elect to use this new Design Standard currently but its use will be mandatory as of March 15, 2012. Seminar 12F116 looks at the technical provisions of the 2012 FACBC in order to illustrate many of the updates to the Standards. The seminar will also look at some of the differences between the updated Federal Standards and the updated FACBC. Seminar 12F116 is designed to be compatible with seminar 12F112 – ADVANCED Florida Accessibility Code (Application and Administration). The core document for seminar 12F1106 will be the 2012 Florida Accessibility Code for Building Construction.

Program Overview:

Seminar covers how to use an air barrier system to control air leakage through all six sides of the building envelope. Uncontrolled air movement causes most of the indoor environmental problems that occur in your buildings. This includes high heating and cooling bills, high humidly levels, air quality, drafts and mold.
During the seminar we will discuss ways that using a spray polyurethane foam insulation air barrier will help seal the building from the outside. We will also cover how spray polyurethane foam insulation can help with your LEED rating. We will review applications of SPF in high performance building envelopes and roofing assemblies commercial energy codes by state will be covered and how SPF works as a vapor retarder.
